A display of ‘idiocracy’ in democracy
We should congratulate ourselves. The results of the last elections have shown our government to be a real functioning democracy, which is simply defined as the “rule of the people.”
Indeed, our democracy can be more accurately described as an “idiocracy.” Looking at the results of the elections, nothing more needs to be said to explain why. The most striking, irrefutable proof of this is the election of Manny Pacquiao as senator and the nonelection of Serge Osmeña, a brilliant cerebral legislator (which really saddens me).
On second thought, this is no cause for alarm or complaint. After all, democracy includes the power of the people to self-destruct.
