Upon assuming the presidency, presumptive President-elect Rodrigo Duterte should at once focus his attention on the plunder cases against local and national officials, considering that during the election campaign he promised to weed out corruption in the Philippines. Take the case against a top government official who used to be a mayor of a city in Metro Manila; this should be pursued vigorously and relentlessly to the end.
Criminal charges should be filed against corrupt officials and those in cahoots with them; if found guilty they should be put behind bars so that others will not emulate them.
In so doing, his administration will earn the admiration, respect and support of “doubting Filipino Thomases.”
