Paging DSWD: Neglected poor ‘residing’ below interchange

Passing along the Osmeña Highway (SLEx), northbound from Edsa to De la Rosa Street in Makati, motorists won’t fail to notice the poor and destitute families dwelling underneath the Magallanes Interchange, on the center island under the Skyway, and on the fringes of the  PNR railtrack.

Are these poorest of the poor families and individuals included in the much-touted 4Ps or conditional cash transfer by the outgoing Aquino administration?

If so, the Department of Social Welfare and Development should immediately extend a helping hand to these less fortunate people.

Aside from being an eyesore, it doesn’t speak well of the government program to alleviate or improve the living condition of the poor and downtrodden.

DSWD officials should pay the place a visit and see for themselves the plight of these poor people and, if possible, with the end in view of including them in the government 4Ps.
