SURVEY-WISE or otherwise, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is the man to beat in the May 9 presidential election. Even with his controversial remarks or statements on several issues, Filipino voters are still rooting for him. Is his instant popularity as presidential candidate a protest vote by Filipinos who are already desperate about the current state of government, what with rampant corruption, criminality and the drug addiction problem remaining unabated?
Can Duterte fulfill his election promises if elected to the highest office in the land and can he usher in a “new” Philippines?
Let’s all wait and see.
