REP. MANNY Pacquiao’s statement on homosexuality is very disturbing and disappointing. It’s blatantly prejudicial to and discriminative of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community. Basically, it shows his lack of education and his lack of understanding of the natural course of history. Homosexuality is present in plants, animals and human beings.
His irresponsible statement is unfair and misleading and can never be rectified by a mere public apology. He should withdraw from the senatorial race. The fact is, we don’t need a senator who is ignorant, imbecile and mentally feeble, and does not understand the call of the times. A senator must be respectable, honorable and should possess impeccable integrity. He should also be equipped with a broad knowledge in law, economics, history, arts and letters.
The Philippine Senate is not a safe haven or refuge for ignorant and uneducated politicians however they may be popular and famous. It is a sacred and immutable pillar of our culture and political destiny; and above all, it is a monumental symbol of our political heritage and way of life.
Pacquiao should focus on his boxing career where brute force and animal instinct are the only basic skills needed to win a fight.
It’s time we reexamined and reevaluated our insane political system which has been coopted by capitalists, political dynasts, trapo, and sports and show biz celebrities.
