Load on the shoulders of Muslim imams, heads

In addition to what Bernie Lopez wrote (“Can IS be stopped?” Opinion, 12/22/15), I think the Islamic youth today are radicalized due to their belief that terrorism—that is, killing non-Islam believers whom they also call infidels—will reward them with a place in heaven beside Allah! That’s why we see young jihadists, including girls, wrapping themselves with bombs that they detonate in crowded places, thus killing themselves, too.

I believe a great responsibility falls on the shoulders of their leaders, imams and heads of Islamic states like Saudi Arabia and Iran to redirect their young followers’ mindset toward discarding such belief. I understand there is now a move among Arab heads toward this end. I hope this approach will succeed in doing away with terrorism, with all its barbarism.
