‘Philbook letter’ was unauthorized

This is in reference to the letter titled “Luistro circumventing RA 8047” (Opinion, 10/20/15).

As agreed upon during the meeting of the Philbook (Philippine Book Development Federation) board of trustees held on Jan. 23, 2015, Jose Maria Policarpio, as the incumbent president of the Philippine Educational Publishers’ Association, would be the official spokesperson of Philbook’s executive committee insofar as deliberations and/or courses of action on Department of Education-related issues are concerned.

To this day, this designation has not been revoked and Policarpio remains Philbook’s spokesperson when it comes to such matters. Any person claiming to speak for Philbook or issuing statements critical of the DepEd on behalf of Philbook, does so without proper authority.

Our apology for the delayed issuance of this disclaimer, which is the result of my prolonged stay abroad due to several business commitments.

—DOMINADOR D. BUHAIN,

president, Philbook
