Will Makabayan support other LGBT abuse victims?

12:00 AM December 07, 2015

AS A member of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community, I’m glad that Jennifer Laude got justice, which she deserves. Now that Lance Cpl. Joseph Scott Pemberton has been found guilty of homicide for killing Laude, would militant groups like those in the Makabayan bloc, without any camera to show the world of their support, also cry for justice for other LGBT victims of abuse?

I don’t understand why Makabayan supports a victim of abuse only when the case is a media headliner. Laude is not the only LGBT victim of abuse in this country.

Makabayan should not be selective in extending its support to victims of abuse. It should bear in mind that sincere help is its own reward and needs no fanfare and publicity. Lacing its “help” with propaganda only betrays its insincere intentions.
