Makabayan exists to fight for NPA

THIS IS in response to Liza Maza’s letter titled “Otazas’ killing offshoot of gov’t’s failure to act on people’s grievances” (Opinion, 11/9/15). It is now very obvious that the Makabayan bloc is pro-New People’s Army. Maza’s letter tells us that, for her and her group, it is okay to kill civilians and people who support the advocacies and projects of the government, people who want to live normal and peaceful lives, innocent people.

Maza’s Makabayan bloc clearly practices “selective justice.” The bloc, particularly Karapatan, which is one of its member-organizations, is fighting only for the NPA. Justice should not be selective. Justice should be for all.

If Karapatan or the Makabayan bloc, for that matter, is sincere in their “fight” for human rights, why are they not calling for justice for Mayor Dario Otaza of Loreto, Agusan del Sur, and the more than 300 lumad the NPA has killed? Maza’s statement only serves to hurt and belittle Mayor Otaza’s family and all the lumad who have fallen victim to the manipulation and exploitation of the NPA and the Left.

Maza’s statement proves to us that they are traitors to our beloved country. They appear to be working as part of the government but they turn a blind eye to the cause of public servants murdered by terrorists, while remaining persistent in their fight against government’s initiatives toward a peaceful and productive country.

We cannot achieve progress while the NPA and the left-leaning groups are in our midst. They should not be supported. The Makabayan bloc in Congress should be demolished. They cannot be trusted. We cannot expect them to fight for us because they will only fight for the NPA.
