Erap out of touch with public sentiment

IS MAYOR Joseph “Erap” Estrada so out of touch with the public sentiment that he somehow thinks that the city cares about the Manila Zoo? (“P1.5-B rehab program to turn Manila Zoo into world-class attraction starts in July,” Metro, 5/22/15)

Here’s a reality check for him: The Manila Zoo is an embarrassment to the country.

Mayor Estrada did nothing to improve the zoo during his first term in City Hall and now, as elections near, he is looking to try to fulfill the promises he made. Developing the zoo into something else—like a sports center—is a great idea. Just leave the animals out of it.

What is the city doing in the zoo business, anyway? That land could be used for something that actually improves the quality of life of Manila citizens.
