‘Muchas gracias,’ Inquirer, Macalintal, ERC

/ 02:50 AM October 02, 2015

For the first time in my life I enjoyed the 5-percent utility discount as senior citizen in accordance with Republic Act No. 9994 and Rule 4, Article 12, Sections 1 and 2 of the law’s Implementing Rules and Regulations promulgated by the, following the publication of my letter to the editor on the matter (“Discount on elderly’s power consumption,” Opinion, 8/7/15).

Upon reading the letter of lawyer Romulo B. Macalintal (‘Senior citizens’ discount on water, power use clarified,’ Opinion, 8/15/15), I was at first in a quandary as to what to do. But when I received the letter of the chair and chief operating officer of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), Jose Vicente B. Salazar, I immediately went to the Camarines Norte Electric Cooperative in downtown Daet and, presto, I was granted the elusive 5-percent discount on water and power consumption.

For all those who helped me like lawyer Macalintal, the Inquirer and ERC Chair and CEO Salazar, I can only say to them muchas gracias for a job well done.
