What are the Iglesia ni Cristo protests really for?
Why do they have to flock to Edsa? Why are Iglesia ni Cristo followers converging in the streets, thus aggravating already hellish traffic conditions in the metropolis? What noble cause are they fighting for? Is it really to seek justice or to subvert it?
The following are on my mind:
- They are on Edsa because their church’s elders had told them to gather there or march on busy roadways to show their loyalty to their religious organization, notwithstanding the dubiousness of the reason for going there.
- The INC’s top hierarchy and those who may be involved in the alleged anomalies and other “evils” being exposed by some of their key leaders and ministers are afraid “to face the music.” Hence they are now resorting to mass action, believing that by showing their “strength,” they can dissuade the concerned officials from investigating the charges against them. But who or what can be stronger than truth?
- Iglesia ni Cristo members may be unaware that dirty “politicians” and corrupt government officials are using them, subtly wiggling into the “picture” to promote selfish intentions.
Or are they holding the protests because Leila de Lima has been resolutely and prudently doing her job as justice secretary?
Article continues after this advertisementThe separation of Church and State is never absolute. Otherwise, we will have modern apostates in huge numbers destroying society and whatever is godly and biblical, in the guise of religion.
“The one who does what is sinful is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8)
I admire the unity of INC as a church. They can exploit it for good—or bad. This time, though, what are they uniting for?
