Godofredo O. Peteza Sr.’s letter (“Corruption not PH’s monopoly or invention,” Opinion, 8/28/15) is not only erroneous, it is also dangerous. I’m in fact disappointed how his letter escaped the sharp eyes of INQUIRER editors.
First, Peteza has made some statements that are not only erroneous but also dangerous. Here they are: The title of his opinion piece is problematic at the very least: “Corruption not PH’s monopoly or invention.” Therefore, what? Just because we’re mere copycats of other developed countries that are corrupt, should we go on being copycats? Why, indeed, can’t we be different?
How in heaven’s name can Peteza say that “until now there is no former president who has been convicted of graft and corruption.” Hello! Where have you been, Sir? What about Erap Estrada and Gloria Arroyo?
