What is wrong with the Aquino sisters? First, they were very vocal about their all-out support for Vice President Jejomar Binay’s intention to run for president in 2016. The youngest, Kris, spoke for her siblings last year and the reason she gave was, Binay was “always there for them” (“A flighty Q&A with Kris Aquino,” Inquirer.net, 8/31/14).
We kind of held our breath for the other shoe to drop, that is, another reason more sensible, please, than their own family’s interest. Pero nada, zilch, nothing!
Now, it was the turn of her older sisters, Ballsy and Pinky, to speak for all of them (“P-Noy sisters not supporting VP Binay,” Front Page, 7/30/15). Thank goodness, they have changed their minds! And their reason? Only because Binay said bad words (“manhid at palpak”) about their brother, P-Noy! Duh!
We know how Kris loves to talk, saying mostly nothing; but we never figured her older sisters were just as shallow! For Pete’s sake, if they have nothing intelligent to say, they should just keep their thoughts to themselves!
Yet, they were quick to say that they are still friends with the Binays, and that their regard and respect for them remain. It seems pretty clear they are not at all perturbed by the very serious charges of massive graft and corruption against the Binay family! So, what does that make of their brother’s “daang matuwid”? Just meaningless sloganeering?
