I WOULD like to thank Anavie R. Alegre for sharing her thoughts and feelings (“Drown,” Opinion, 7/30/15).
It makes me sad to see or hear so many young people not sure about themselves—why they live, what the goal of their life is.
I’m 62 years old and I remember that when I was 17 years old, I too found myself at a crossroads. The question was whether to surrender my life to Jesus and live for Him, or to live without Him. I never regretted that I chose Him. Not in a religious way, but as I invited Him to be my personal Savior and Lord, a relationship began to develop and this I came to deeply enjoy. As I started to walk with Him and to listen to Him in my daily life, He directed me in living a fulfilled life.
It has always been and it will always be: To live with/for Jesus and to bring Him glory and honor, that’s what life is all about! That’s the reason why He created us. It’s wrong to think that we live in order to become rich and famous. That’s a deception. I have seen many Filipinos living a very simple life in squatter areas of the Philippines, yet they know and love Jesus. They live their destiny because they live with Him and for Him.
Anavie, I wish that you, too, would allow Jesus into your life. Surrender everything to Him and ask Him to fill your life. He actually promised it in the Gospel of John 10:10: “The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, overflowing life.” I would be glad to answer any questions you have.
