‘Media corruption is alive’

Corruption in Philippine media is palpable. With next year’s elections approaching, this culture will come out “bubbling, hustling and yowling” anew in the press and on air, oh, to the utter detriment of our people’s welfare and our country’s future. Yes, media corruption is alive and kicking, feeding on the “great favors” of the corrupt and criminal.

In connection with their 2016 election plan, dirty politicians must have started recruiting or buying “legitimate” media practitioners with irresistible offers—to become part of their hideous campaign or “PR” scheme.

Who among the 11 disciples praised Judas Iscariot? Which chariot of Pharaoh’s men ever trampled on truth with success? And who can defend the indefensible or paint over the indelible?

These media people can’t be sincere in speaking out for the truth and in fighting for what’s right, yet they’ve become bold and stone-faced when they stoutly and mightily brandish the wrong. “Unmindful” of the consequences of their misdeeds, these crooks in print and broadcast media are just too happy selling their souls afresh, then afterward “feasting” while whining over widespread misery that they so helped create.

No need for any voter to be a Nostradamus to see through these misfits shamelessly wielding their pens and microphones to spread lies or to mislead. Only the corrupt will justify corruption and someone who is corrupt. Who else, aside from a “benefactor,” will rationalize the undeniable guilt of Idi Amin or Napoleon Bonaparte? Freedom of speech is out of issue here, only freedom to be in bondage to one’s own folly, and freedom to wreak havoc on the people, society and nation.

Don’t send your souls to hell ahead of the Great White Throne of Judgment. Jesus Christ warned: “It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks” (Acts 9:5). Calling “People Power” or media outlet owners, take responsibility and action by weeding out the tare from the wheat.
