Fight for recovery of coconut levy money continues without letup

/ 04:33 AM July 25, 2011

I congratulate former Quezon lawmaker Oscar Santos in urging local officials in coconut-producing areas to help in the campaign of their farmers to recover the multibillion-peso coconut levy. (Inquirer, 7/10/11)

Being a local official myself, as well as a small coconut farmer, I am fully aware of my moral obligation to support the struggle for the recovery of the coconut levy funds. Moreover, I am willing to help in the information and awareness campaign launched by the coco farmers group. In fact, I have written several letters to the editor, particularly to the well-read Inquirer, regarding the imperative to recover the coco levy for the benefit of the poor farmers.

Finally, I suggest that all legal remedies must be taken by the coco farmers’ groups if only to recover the multibillion-peso coco levy money.
