THE GOVERNMENT Service Insurance System should lower its compulsory retirement age from 65 to 60. Many advantages may be derived from this change by both the GSIS members and government.
For example, the retirees will enjoy immediately the five-year lump sum benefit with the annual pension to accrue at age 65, enhancing the chances of their remaining productive, staying free from stress and having longer lives; while the government can streamline public services without resorting to reorganization.
