Joint Commission International, Makati Medical Center, hospitals

The article of Dr. Leonardo L. Leonidas (“How safe is your hospital?” Opinion, 4/15/15) is most interesting and well-taken. However, it may be pointed out that there are international organizations that visit medical centers in the country regularly and evaluate their quality of service, the completeness and the modernity of their facilities and equipment, the expertise of their consultant staff, their nursing service, and safety of patient care.

One such respectable agency is the Joint Commission International (JCI). The agency categorizes the quality rating of hospitals in America, Europe and the rest of the world. At times JCI also does comparable ratings.

Among the JCI-accredited medical centers in the Philippines is the Makati Medical Center.
