We seem to be in suspended animation—a deadlock where nothing is moving because of a leadership “incapacity” resulting from a loss of confidence in executive decision-making. There should be a mechanism for takeover, but the problem is we also doubt our Vice President and Senate President, the first two in the line of succession!
What do we do? Do we now look to the House Speaker or the Chief Justice? We really should do something about this graft and corruption problem. I think our best choice under these circumstances is the Chief Justice.
