Ordinary citizens of this country can demand the ouster of corrupt senators and congressmen from government through people power. As Christians we believe that the real power resides in the people. Our Church leaders should urge lawmakers to restore the rights of the workers to self-organization and to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement directly with their employers. That is the social doctrine of the Church.
Instead of joining the National Transformation Council, which demands the ouster of President Aquino, our Church leaders should make a political stand in favor of the poor and conquer their indifference to transforming the Church into a real Church of the Poor.
President Aquino is still the best president we have had after his mother, President Cory. At least he is as upright as his mother and thus unimpeachable. We, Mindanaoans, believe that he has best served the cause of justice and peace in Mindanao.
