THIS REFERS to Juan L. Mercado’s column, titled “Failed T-shirt swap” (Inquirer, 7/19/11) which, among other things, pointed out that “Sans fanfare, Solicitor General Jose Cadiz parried bids by the Ampatuans to pry loose an estimated P1 billion stashed in 34 accounts.”
Indeed, the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) continues to exhaust all its efforts toward fulfilling its mandate without need to resort to “fanfare.” I deeply appreciate and am glad that Mercado took notice of this and was kind enough to point it out in his column.
I hope that the Inquirer will continue to support us in reassuring the public of our commitment to serve the Republic and the Filipino people, and to work toward the fulfillment of our advocacy to promote and defend the rule of law.
