Why only Miriam and not other senators?

We take exception to the allegations John Nery made in his column, “Ignorant, or arrogant, in the Senate” (Opinion, 2/17/15).

The opinion piece singled out Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago from all other senators who asked hard questions in seeking the truth about the Mamasapano clash. Nery was also selective in quoting the senator, intentionally creating negative assumptions in the public’s perspective.

While Nery is entitled to his own opinion as an Inquirer columnist, we wish to remind him of his duty to adhere to journalistic standards of factual and contextual accuracy.

Based on his past columns, it appears that Nery has taken it upon himself to drag the senator down whenever she is widely supported by the public. We hope Nery can enlighten us on where his animosity is coming from.
