Left’s deafening silence on Binay issues

/ 12:01 AM January 16, 2015

There is a saying in Filipino that goes this way: Iba ang tinitingnan kaysa tinititigan. I am literally at a loss interpreting the silence of Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Neri Colmenares, Renato Reyes, Mae Paner (alias Juana Change) and the other members of the so-called Left on the serious allegations against Vice President Jejomar Binay and his family. The Binays have been accused of enriching themselves in office. This is in stark contrast to the noise they make denouncing the government over the alleged illegal disbursement of pork barrel funds.

Every day, I scan the pages of the Inquirer expecting news about demonstrations led by Reyes and Juana Change, calling for fire and brimstone to fall on the head of Vice President Binay but I hear nothing but a deafening silence. Please, don’t tell me, nabayaran na rin kayo (you have been paid) to keep your loud mouths shut!
