During the observance of the 79th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Philippines at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City, President Aquino advised soldiers to remain apolitical and warned them against being swayed by politicians in supporting selfish agendas. In Mr. Aquino’s own words: “Be ashamed and be afraid, too. Reforms will not stop and our efforts to make sure that the corrupt will be made accountable will not be derailed.”
Sorry, but the reforms are illusory, more so the efforts. The efforts Mr. Aquino spoke of in derailing corrupt officials are in fact phantom efforts, especially whenever they concern his friends and allies. Can anyone name a single Aquino appointee or Cabinet official or close ally who has been charged with a crime of corruption that has stuck?
