SSS Tarlac coordinating now with disabled member

/ 06:10 AM December 29, 2014

This is in reply to the letter sent by Rodolfo Cunanan (“SSS officials violated Anti-Red Tape Act,” Opinion, 12/16/14) regarding his claim for outstanding Employee Compensation (EC) Permanent Total Disability (PTD) from July 1997 to December 2009.

Our Tarlac branch office has already coordinated with Cunanan to visit them for medical evaluation and submission of his Disability Claim application for the conversion of his EC Permanent Partial Disability (PPD) to EC PTD from October 1997 to December 2009. The retroactive pay will be remitted to his ATM account as SSS pensioner.

We would like to clarify, however, that the retroactive pay does not cover the months of July to September 1997, as he continued posting contributions during this period. Based on Presidential Decree No. 626 or the EC Law, PTD benefits are only given to workers who are not capable of returning to work.
