Remove basketball court blocking streets in South Fairview

The residents of Dart and Hunter streets at Fairview Park Subdivision in South Fairview, Quezon City, request the chair of Barangay Greater Fairview to dismantle the fixed basketball goal “stands,” located near the gates of the two streets. The stands are road obstructions, besides being used as “observation posts” from where criminals watch out for households or individuals they could possibly rob. As important, the Building Code of the Philippines prohibits the construction of fixed basketball stands on streets.

The basketball “court” itself becomes a nuisance to the neighborhood when outsiders play on it, more so when they create loud noise, damage the plants and scatter litter in the vicinity—in total disregard of the rights of nearby residents, among them, one who is recuperating from an ailment. At times, players bet on their games and break into heated arguments, disturbing the peace in the neighborhood.

We are looking forward to the prompt and fast action of the barangay chair on this matter.
