Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano recently said that if Vice President Jejomar Binay would be voted into Malacañang in 2016, he would be a worse president than Gloria Arroyo.
It’s not concerning me but I am actually offended. It irritates me that Senator Cayetano would be so irresponsible and tactless as to bring Arroyo’s name into the Binay conversation and try to advance his own personal agenda at her expense with that remark against her.
Cayetano seems incapable of coming up with an original thought on his own. He just follows wherever the tide of popular consensus flows. To use another metaphor, he would be the first to jump on a political bandwagon, but when that bandwagon stops attracting new adherents, he would be the first to jump out of it and even claim he was never part of it.
The ironic thing is Arroyo has yet to be proven guilty of any of the allegations against her. Moreover, not a single concrete evidence has been presented to the courts that would prove any of the allegations against Arroyo. If those cases against her would be dropped at some point soon, I wouldn’t be surprised if at that juncture Cayetano would say he never believed Arroyo was guilty and that the cases against her were all bogus and all aimed to persecute her.
