Lacson Underpass makeover hailed, still fails expectations

Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada should be commended for the total makeover of the Lacson Underpass in Quiapo.

But the underpass still falls short of one’s expectations, although now run by a private firm and no longer under the City Hall of Manila.

Stalls are aplenty and all over, but packed like sardines. The passageways are crammed, especially the one going to Carriedo exit, because of the presence of too many stalls.

Pedestrians and shoppers should be given more space and elbow room for easy movement and for their convenience.
