Hard to find a job, dangerous to get to work

12:27 AM October 01, 2014

As an MRT user—and public transportation patron, if you will—I hope President Benigno Aquino III does more to help ordinary Filipinos who depend on public transportation services to get to work or to travel in and around Metro Manila.

It is already dreadful to stand in line not just to buy a train ticket but also to get into a coach itself; and now safety has also become an issue. Forget about the pickpockets plying their trade at MRT or LRT or on the jeepneys and buses. Trains are now jumping out of rails?

I’m just happy to have a job because there are millions of Filipinos with no jobs, and from the looks of things, unemployment will continue to be a major problem in the Philippines under the Aquino administration. But now getting to work has also become a difficult and dangerous grind. I just hope again that President Aquino will do more and care more for us ordinary Filipinos.
