We, graduates of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), are committed to adhere to and to promote the core values of integrity, service and justice that we learned from the academy.
The reported Sept. 1 gun-poking incident on Edsa, involving three of our graduates, has really saddened us. Reports have linked them to an alleged “hulidap” operation and they have all been charged in court.
During the Philippine National Police Academy Alumni Association Inc.
(PNPAAAI) board meeting held at Camp Crame last Sept. 10, we all agreed to strongly condemn the alleged acts of those three PNPA graduates; we also agreed that, if found guilty, they be meted out the corresponding punishment and expelled from the association.
We at the PNPAAAI have been very supportive of the effort of the PNP leadership to cleanse the ranks of the police force. We firmly believe that majority of the more than 148,000 uniformed personnel of the PNP are committed to our sworn duty to serve and protect the people.
The PNPA was established in June 1978 for the purpose of producing highly competent and respected public safety officers who will lead the country to a brighter future. And we can proudly say that a great majority of its graduates have never blemished the good name of the academy.
Lastly, we call on our fellow Lakans (graduates) to be symbols of honest public servants, ready to risk our lives any time in the line of duty. I also urge all of them not to be affected by such developments and to remain steadfast in our sworn duty as public safety officers.
