This refers to the article/photos captioned “Tale of two Makati buildings” (Front Page, 9/5/14). If the saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” is true, then there is no need to say which of the two buildings in Makati is world-class—the 33-floor Zuellig building or the 11-floor Makati City parking building constructed by the local government of Makati.
For another thing, the Zuellig building is certified by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) as “environment-friendly.” Can the same thing be said of the Makati parking structure which, according to Mayor Junjun Binay, is a “green” building and “world-class”? A person would have to be blind not to see which of the two buildings is world-class and in compliance with green standards. We are not even referring to the construction cost and what comes with each building structure, such as the number of
elevators and escalators.
Incidentally, I like the cartoon of Gilbert Daroy in the Opinion section (Page A16) of the same issue. It reminds me of my favorite childhood literary character whose nose grows longer every time he tells a lie. Is it just a coincidence that the face of the man featured in that cartoon looks like someone we all know?
