Message of thanks from grandparent, ‘apo’

12:05 AM August 09, 2014

In the years 1999 through 2014, my grandchild, Lynne Mhar Doydora, was featured twice by the Inquirer, appealing to readers for their kindhearted assistance. She had been diagnosed with leukemia (lempositic leukemia) and had to undergo chemotherapy and medication through these years. By our Heavenly Father’s mercy, the response was very encouraging.

Allow us to express from the depths of our hearts our most sincere thanks to our brothers and sisters in Christ, not only here in the Philippines but also those abroad, who gave us support, hope and strength through their prayers and financial assistance; to the management and staff of the Inquirer; to her physician, Dr. Fernando Douglas Go (hematologist), and above all, to our Almighty God. These crucial years have been a struggle and a challenge for us, but the anxieties and pain were much less, and Lynne was inspired to carry on because of the sincere, selfless response and continuous support even from strangers. Lynne still undergoes CBC every six months. Now 19 years old, she is now in college.

May the Almighty Father bestow upon us the grace of courage to fight on; and with our Lord Jesus Christ’s guidance, to continue to perform spiritual as well as corporal works of mercy.

I want to thank you. You are instruments that God gave me to enable me to survive my illness. You are among my inspirations that made me fight hard to survive and become a healthy person once again. At this moment, I am very happy to reach college. I am currently enrolled at Xavier University Ateneo de Cagayan, taking up development communication.

Thank you for your undying love, prayers and hope. Thank you very much.
