Public’s renewed faith in the Court

This is with reference to the latest controversial decision of the Supreme Court regarding the case of Sandiganbayan Justice Gregory Ong, who was found guilty of “fixing a case against [Janet] Napoles and several military officials in exchange for money in 2010.”

We laud the Court’s decision to order an investigation on this case upon the assumption of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno to the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption hopes that the Supreme Court, as an institution, will continue to keep its dignity (which it has shown lately in the two historic decisions on the Priority Development Assistance Fund and the Disbursement Acceleration Program) and the public’s trust and respect.

We pray that the Supreme Court justices, who we understand will cast another vote on whether to “dismiss or merely  suspend” Sandiganbayan Justice Ong, will have the renewed faith of the people in the Supreme Court primordial in their mind.
