Rabusa doesn’t deserve WPP

The call of former COA auditor Arturo Besana for retired Lt. Col. George Rabusa to be removed from the Witness Protection Program (WPP) is only fair. It is no secret that Rabusa was involved in looting the coffers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, which benefited him and his superiors.

He is equally, if not more guilty as the people he has accused, for he was the one who devised these schemes. His acts marred the AFP’s image, and they are unforgivable; at the height of the investigation that resulted from his revelations, they brought the morale of the good men and women of the AFP crashing down to its lowest level.

Did it not come to the mind of the public that it was Rabusa who devised the schemes that allowed the diversion of funds into his superiors’ pockets? Also, there are people he has wrongly accused. His subsequent expressions of regret and remorse are suspect. Things may not be what they appear to be. We might have somebody here pretending to be a hero who in all reality is the most guilty. People should be wary in buying his script hook, line and sinker.

The volume of evidence he kept indicates that he really was prepared for this day—that is, the day when he would have to save his own skin by becoming a witness against his co-conspirators.
