I am one of the hundreds of planholders who scrimped and saved to pay Prudential Life Plan for a guarantee of college education for our children, a monthly pension in old age and funeral expenses in death. All the scrimping and saving went for naught when the company collapsed financially in 2011.
In 2012, Prudential asked the planholders to submit to the company photocopies of their policies, promising to refund the premiums paid. I waited for advisories in the media to no avail till I read in the Inquirer in 2013, that the Public Assistance Department of the Insurance Commission will assist the refund claimants. I e-mailed Chris Rafal of the Insurance Commission’s Public Assistance and Information office, but got no response.
I hope that this letter will get the Insurance Commission to act on the pleas for assistance of the hundreds of Prudential planholders similarly situated.
