This refers to the letter of one Gabrielle Michelle M. Aguillera attacking Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago (“A ‘graceful exit’ for Sen. Miriam?,” Opinion, 6/25/14).
The letter is vicious and has nothing to do with national legislative policies. It is purely personal against the senator. We note that it comes after the statement by Senator Santiago that there should be no VIP treatment in our jail system. The only conclusion to be drawn is that the letter is just black propaganda against the senator.
Senator Santiago has been attending to all substantial Senate and public duties. While her doctors advised her to cancel engagements to speak at commencement exercises, she refused because the invitations were accepted at least three months in advance.
