Anakbayan to CHEd: Scrap memo removing Filipino from college courses

Anakbayan denounces the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) for removing the Filipino subject from college-level general education. We demand the scrapping of CHEd Memorandum Order No. 20, series of 2013, removing Filipino as a subject in college.

The policy shows the colonial and anti-Filipino nature of the Aquino administration’s K+12 program, which seeks to further subject our youth to foreign exploitation by providing cheap labor for foreign capital. Removing Filipino courses and subjects will dilute nationalism and Philippine history and will further enhance the colonial character of the nation’s education system.

We call on Filipino teachers, students and freedom-loving Filipinos to protest the move and oppose the further colonization of our education system.
