This pertains to the report that appeared in the May 12 issue of the Inquirer titled “Benguet Corp. racing to fix tailings dam to check breach.”  At the outset, please be informed that there is no breach or the danger of a future breach.

The work program entails increasing the crests of the embankments of Tailings Ponds No. 2 and 2A to a level of 775 meters to contain or impound additional mill wastes equivalent to eight years of operation in compliance with our Environmental Compliance Certificate, as approved by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-Cordillera Administrative Region and the Environment Management Bureau-CAR.
