Half-baked coverage of Independence Day

08:20 PM July 05, 2011

IT WAS cruelty to the general public for the major television networks not to cover in full the Independence Day celebrations. If anything, this is indicative of the government’s disorganized information network. Notwithstanding the fact that it is headed by three Cabinet-level secretaries, it was unable to secure the cooperation of even one station for a complete coverage of the most nationalistic occasion in the life of the nation.

As a result of the disorganized media program for the occasion, the general public was deprived of the opportunity to watch and listen to all the day’s important activities and inspirational speeches, particularly that of President Aquino.
