Delay in check release explained in letter—GSIS
This refers to the delayed release of the claim of Cherry Murillon (aka Cherry M. Cubacub) relative to the life insurance and survivorship benefits of her late father, Pepito B. Murillon (“Still no GSIS check, six months after claims were filed,” Inquirer, 1/7/14).
In a letter we recently sent to Murillon/Cubacub, we informed her that the checks for the death benefit under her father’s life insurance policy were ready for pickup at the GSIS central office in Pasay City. In the same letter, we conveyed our apologies and explained the details of the claim, including the thorough reconciliation made on her father’s accounts to ensure the accuracy of the resulting proceeds.
On her survivorship claim, we informed her that the computed gross amount was insufficient to pay off her father’s outstanding loan balances. Thus, the processing of this particular claim yielded no proceeds.
