The meeting between Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada and former president Gloria Arroyo (Metro, 12/22/13) was totally unexpected but it was fraught with political undertones and colors.
Is Mayor Estrada gunning again for the presidency of the Philippines in 2016?
Is there now an ongoing political alliance between the camps of Erap and Arroyo for the forthcoming presidential election?
Should Mayor Estrada throw his hat in the ring come 2016, Filipinos would do well to be more discerning in choosing a leader this time around—not merely for his or her popularity but for substance, integrity and love of country.
