There should be a total revamp of the Cabinet before 2014. President Aquino should appoint fresh faces as his alter egos in the Cabinet in the last two years of his term.
The President is too pusong mamon (softhearted), that is, he does not want to hurt his men’s feelings. But the true meaning of leadership is not to hurt the citizenry.
By this time the President knows the true colors of his appointees. He should separate the white clothes from the red, green, blue and other colored ones.
This is the time for the President to be loyal to the people, not to the politicians. Time to start building up the legacy he wants to leave to the nation, to avoid dancing with the wolves. He should not raise the hand of his anointed candidate in the coming presidential election. He should let all the candidates’ strengths and weakness surface on their own. He should be neutral.
This is the time for the President to appoint a new interior secretary. This is the time for the President to appoint a new Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board chair. This is the time for the President to ask his officials who among them will run in the coming elections, and he should request those with plans to run to resign immediately.
This will allow the President to select the right persons who are going to truly serve the people.
