Mandela, Joma: contrasting pair

/ 10:46 PM December 23, 2013

The beloved and revered Nelson Mandela of South Africa has been laid to rest. But his legacy of leadership and sacrifice will always be remembered. In fact, he has earned his place in history. All his life, he was dedicated to his people and his quest for human rights for all. He was truly an icon, worthy of emulation by all leaders of the world.

Unfortunately there are people, leaders, who live their lives in the opposite manner, like our local communist leader Jose Maria “Joma” Sison and his disciples. Their lives are dedicated to violence and terrorism, to supplant democracy with communism. And in pursuit of this objective, they will pull out all the stops, violate the most basic of rights or kill, and won’t even care if their victims are innocent civilians.

Mandela and Joma are a study in contrast. One dedicated his life to reconciliation and truth, the other continues to lead others to a life of waste and destruction.
