There are reports that some retail stores in Metro Manila and other places in the country are selling relief items donated by foreign countries for the benefit of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” victims.
If true, our government law enforcement agencies should pay these retail stores a visit, confiscate the relief items and then file appropriate charges against the store owners, along with their suppliers.
Otherwise, these reports —which are prevalent in social media—will be perceived as accurate and tolerated by our government. Needless to say, if left unacted on, this will create a negative image of our government among donor countries.
