‘Stupid they may be, but crazy they are not’

I loved reading Neal H. Cruz’s comments regarding the suggestions on how to handle Manny Pacquiao’s tax case (Opinion, 12/6, 9/13) as put forth by some of his colleagues in Congress, most of whom, our people thought, could be trusted to handle the sensitive responsibilities of a lawmaker. Stupid they may be, but crazy they are not.

They know what they are doing to “take care” of the future of their families and their descendants, raking in millions, even billions of pesos from every “cookie jar” they can dip into—from jueteng to pork barrel, and God knows when they will ever stop, if at all.

They will plagiarize, overprice, peddle lies, womanize (their favorite cottage industry), and go into all sorts of vice. Now we know whom we should not vote come election time, Cruz said. No, we don’t.

A notorious lawmaker said, “We are all into it, why single me out?” Yes, we know; all of them are doing it.
