Resign, officials linked to PDAF scam urged

The resignation of Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon shows there are still government leaders in our country who understand and live out the true meaning of the word “delicadeza.”

Even if he hasn’t been found guilty of the charges filed against him with the Office of the Ombudsman in connection with the pork barrel scam, Biazon has realized that his continued stay at the Bureau of Customs may be used by enemies of the present administration to bring down President Aquino.

Thus, being the good soldier that he is, Biazon chose the honorable path and tendered his irrevocable resignation.

I wonder if other government officials implicated in the pork barrel scam will have the courage and honor to do the same. Sadly, one senator who is charged with plundering hundreds of millions of pesos through Janet Napoles’ bogus nongovernment organizations even continues to use his power to harass government agencies such as the Commission on Audit which exposed their corrupt practices and abuses. The Filipino people should now urge these lawmakers,  especially “Pogi,” “Sexy” and “Tanda,” to follow Biazon’s example of delicadeza, at least by taking a leave of absence from their office until the investigation regarding the pork barrel scam shall have been concluded.

Yet again, perhaps this is asking too much from these so-called “honorable” gentlemen whose shameful acts have defrauded the Filipino people of billions of pesos which could have easily been spent on much-needed basic services like education and healthcare.
