A touching gesture from poor Muslims
Supertyphoon “Yolanda” brought out the best in us Filipinos. Yolanda awakened our innate concern for our fellowmen, in this case the typhoon victims. It also showed us that we are all capable of loving our neighbor.
Specifically, we would like to express our appreciation of and admiration for our brother Muslims, the Maranao Muslims in Marawi City, who pooled resources to donate P100,000 in cash and in kind for the victims of Yolanda. The donation, coming from poor people, is really very touching and heartwarming: Even those who need help themselves went the extra mile to share what little they have to be of help to others.
In time, this good deed of theirs will go back to them in many forms. It is also good that the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao will also send relief goods to Leyte and other typhoon-hit provinces.
