I felt so ashamed when I saw the picture, on the front page of the Oct. 1 issue of the Inquirer, of a young student doing a “high wire act” to cross a river on his way to school! I immediately rushed to an Internet café to e-mail this letter and express my disgust through your widely read
paper.
Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF)?!!!! Some quarters support the PDAF’s retention, saying that legislators are in a better position to know the priority needs of their constituents. I say, “Wrong!” The front-page picture told us the PDAF is a most “brutal” way of deceit foisted on our people.
I estimated that around P2 million to P3 million will be needed to construct a bridge for this “absolutely priority project” to keep children safe from a possibly deadly harm. The barangay development council, the municipal development council and the provincial development council are in the best position to know what is priority for the people, period.
