FVR’s penchant for dishing out his two cents worth

Whenever the country encounters a problem, political or otherwise, former President Fidel  Ramos has the audacity to put in his two cents worth.

During the height of the “Hello Garci” controversy in 2005, President Gloria Arroyo almost completely lost the people’s trust, prompting a number of her Cabinet members to resign en masse. Her government lost the moral and legal capacity to govern and people wished she would follow suit.

What saved her day was Ramos’ advice to allow her more time in office to effect a transition government. Coming from a former chief executive, Ramos’ word seemed to work wonders as people took his advice hook, line and sinker. Little did we know that Arroyo would turn out to be more ruthless and rabid in corruption during her borrowed time. This would not have happened had Ramos not intervened in giving his brand of advice.

We hear him again blaming President Aquino for the Zamboanga incident and, with his characteristic chutzpah, dishing out his two cents worth.

Have we not learned?
